Add Major Partner; GLEANERS FOOD BANK

Michigan Pre Draft Showcase LLC is proud to announce a partnership with Gleaners Community Food Bank! For nearly 40 years, Gleaners Community Food Bank has been “feeding hungry people and nourishing our communities.” Headquartered in Detroit, Gleaners operates five distribution centers in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston and Monroe counties and provides food to 535 partner soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters and other agencies throughout southeastern Michigan. Gleaners collects 34.5 million pounds of food a year and distributes 79,000 meals each day including providing nourishing food and nutrition education to 84,700 children a year. Every dollar donated provides three meals and 93 cents of every donated dollar goes to food and food programs.

"I was very fortunate to be able to volunteer in the past at the Taylor, Michigan location and the experience was very rewarding. While we are so very fortunate to be able to lace up the skates and play hockey; it is vital to remember we can always help people less fortunate; We couldn’t be happier to team up with Gleaners as Karen Rogensues has gone above and beyond in teaming up to make this event special" stated MI Pre Draft LLC president Gary Astalos.

A percentage of every single team and individual registration will go towards Gleaners Food Bank. In addition, all proceeds from both apparel sales and program sales will be donated. A representative will be in attendance and speak at our newly formed coaches seminar that will take place at the Arctic Edge in Canton on Saturday May 6th. In addition; Gleaners Food Bank Donation bins will be available all weekend if anyone would like to donate food as well. In addition to the showcase weekend; all showcase staff will be invited to attend a hands on volunteer experience at the Detroit location in April 2017 (We will post pictures under our new "Gleaners" tab)! Hockey is a great game and it is even better when we can find a way to give back to our community!
